Waking up happy.

This morning I woke up happy, for no particular reason, just happy. I felt like Winnie the Pooh, who to me is the wisest and most sensible of bears, because he so values all the delicious bits of lovely that the present moment brings. I loved Pooh when I was little, and when I grew up, realized Pooh’s creator, A.A. Milne had a connection to something special that I deeply understood: That simple pleasures have the power to delight, and the people we love make our lives meaningful.
This morning when my alarm chimed, I woke to a fabulously warm and cozy bed. My toast with sunflower butter and clover honey was a lovely reason to rise. The pink light of sunrise lit the mountains in the most perfect way. I felt blessed to be awake for a new start, in a new day. With all of this, how could a girl, who felt like a bear, be anything but happy?
(Deep gratitude to A.A. Milne.)
